Representative Flynn is a native Texan who serves House District 2 which includes Hunt, Rains and Van Zandt Counties. He is currently serving as Vice Chairman for the House Committee on Border & Intergovernmental Affairs, the House Committee on Pensions, Investments & Financial Services and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Credit Service Organizations. He continues to serve as a member of the Sunset Advisory Commission.
Flynn previously serving on the Committee on State Affairs; served as Vice Chairman of the Pensions and Investments Committee; Vice Chairman of the Financial Institutions Committee and a member of the General Investigating and Ethics Committee.
He served as Deputy Banking Commissioner for the State of Texas and has spent over forty years in the banking industry working at every level of banking, including having been a Financial Industry Consultant Internationally as well as for the ABA in Washington. He also served as County Judge for Van Zandt County.
Dan and his wife, Susan, live on their cattle ranch in Van, TX and are actively involved in their community as well as owners of a small business. They are active members of the Church of the Nazarene locally and worldwide and he serves as a member of the District Advisory Board.
He served his country in the Texas National Guard the U. S. Army and the Army Reserves from 1962-1968. He is passionate about solving the immigration problems that exists between the Texas State border and Mexico. In 2006, he was sworn into the Texas State Guard as Commander in the Texas Maritime Regiment of the Texas Military Forces and has been activated to serve along the Rio Grande and Texas Border, monitoring illegal immigration as well as serving during the many hurricane disasters in Texas.
Dan Flynn brings a perspective to the office; one of Vision, Value and Leadership. These principles have proven to open bridges of communication to all citizens, giving opportunity for more people to be involved in the process. He is a principled Conservative, fighting to maintain the philosophy expressed in our Texas and American heritage and is a strong believer of the philosophy of limited government and the rights of the American people.
