BANGUI, Central African Republic (AP) — Police say that Central African Republic President Francois Bozize had his son arrested over an unpaid hotel bill.
Captain Kevin Bozize has been held at Bangui jail of the Research and Investigations Section since Nov. 6 for not paying a bill of 8 million CFA ($15,000) at the Ledger Plaza Hotel.
According to the lieutenant commanding the Research and Investigations Section, who refused to give his name, Kevin Bozize stayed several times at the new hotel but did not pay his bill. Hotel officials also confirmed that the president agreed that his son should be arrested over the debt.
The Ledger Plaza hotel opened in September and has had a problem with unpaid bills. The hotel has a new policy that all hotel guests must pay their bills before exiting.
