Gov. Rick Perry will be holding his first two town halls in New Hampshire over the weekend. The Texas governor must gain voters’ confidence in this early-voting state in order to bounce back from poor performances in recent GOP presidential debates.

Perry’s first town hall meeting is at 6 p.m. EST Friday at the Upper Village Town Hall in East Derry. His second is at 8 a.m. Saturday at the One Liberty Lane Conference Center in Hampton.

The Saturday event is expected to focus on the economy. It is sponsored by a limited-government group called “We the People.”

The group has scheduled other candidates in future town halls between now and November, including Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Jon Huntsman and Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Paul will be the second candidate to take part in the series at 6:30 p.m. EST, Oct. 3 at Nashua Community College.

Paul is also set for a town hall meeting this Friday at 6:30 p.m. EST at Thomas More College in Merrimack, during Perry’s event.
